Public safety or to generate income, you decide?

Casselberry Police dept on July 1,2010 wrote $10,000.00 worth of seat belt tickets. This was done again to total more than$20,000.00 in just two days in the month of July.
Was this done to "Protect and to serve" or was this done to subject our citizens to uncalled for Harassment?I am led to believe that$20,000.00 worth of seat belt tickets was solely to generate income at the cost of burdening the citizens with harsh tickets at a bad economic time. Yes, it is true it is a law and that we should wear a seat belt but hiding along 436 a police officer using binoculars to jump out and give you a seat belt ticket many people feel has nothing to do with public safety, but to generate income.
Do to public opp ion this tragedy, this practice by the police dept. gives our city a bad name along with it does not promote the values of a community that attracts people to live here or bring their business here, does it. Our police dept. should be more concerned with stopping crime and to stop the rampant running of red lights and speeding through our neighborhoods! Just because they can, is not a response that justifies their actions to ticket for seat belts. Let the city commission hear your view by voicing your thoughts. REV. JEF
